The Wisconsin Breast Cancer Coalition will once again be supporting the passage of state legislation that will mandate cost-free supplemental screenings and diagnostic tests needed by women with dense breasts or who otherwise have been deemed high risk for developing breast cancer. Over 20 other states have already passed similar legislation.
Patient advocates will be the key to success. Despite very good bipartisan support in both the State Senate and Assembly we haven’t made it across the finish line – yet. We need to share more stories about what this bill means for about 40% of Wisconsin women. Will you share your story?
If you – or someone you love - have been told you have dense breasts or are at high risk and require additional screening that you have to pay out of pocket for – either because of a high deductible or because your insurer won’t cover the full cost – we need your voice.
If you have been diagnosed with a late-stage breast cancer because your mammogram alone missed the tumor due to dense breast tissue – we need your voice.
