8:45 am             Complementary Therapies: Art Therapy, Acupuncture, and Chair Yoga

This interactive session to start the day will highlight three practices that may help cope with the side effects of cancer treatments, such as nausea, pain, and fatigue, comfort themselves, and ease the worries of cancer treatment and related stress.

Kim Dittus, MD & PhD, Hematology, Medical Oncology and Palliative Care Professor
Integrative Health Oncology (IHO) is a field of cancer care that combines conventional cancer treatments with complementary approaches such as mind-body practices, lifestyle strategies, and natural products. Dr. Dittus will focus this session on how to manage the cognitive and mental health side effects of cancer treatment.

11:00 am          What is the Role of a Healthcare Navigator in your treatment plan?

This session will focus on the types of navigators: the Clinical trials and Financial navigators. How they help patients act as a bridge to navigate the complex healthcare systems

What mental health challenges have they faced, and which complementary therapies have been helpful?

12:15 pm          Lunch with Table Hosts: ask questions about Wisconsin's Leading Cancer Support Organizations and the morning speakers.

1:00 pm            Policy: What's Happening at the Capitol with Dawn Anderson

The Wisconsin Breast Cancer Coalition will give an update on the latest news regarding state legislation that will mandate cost-free supplemental screenings and diagnostic tests needed by women with dense breasts or who otherwise have been deemed high risk for developing breast cancer. Dawn will discuss how you can get involved to help WBCC pass this critical legislation.
