What Is Chair Yoga? Benefits, Poses & More!

The yoga practice which involves doing modified yoga poses while sitting on a chair is called chair yoga. Whether you are new to yoga, physically need assistance, or looking for a break during the work day. These variations make yoga accessible for everyone!

Now, it sounds easy but does chair yoga have any benefits as well? Yes, it does. Chair yoga gives you all the health benefits that a normal yoga practice does. The benefits include:

  • Muscle toning
  • Reduced stress levels
  • Better breathing habits
  • Better sleep
  • And an overall sense of well-being.

Equipment Needed: All you need is an open mind and heart, a solid chair (preferably not folding), and a strap or a belt!

This event is FREE! Please RSVP by Thursday, September 10

Instructor: Leanne Widen, Yoga Instructor, yoga teacher, volunteer, breast cancer survivor, wife, mother, daughter, sister, friend and new grandmother to 2 grandsons.

Leanne began her yoga journey at the age of 50, after overcoming breast cancer. Through the practice of yoga, she was able to reconnect to the same body that had betrayed her. Using breath and movement, she found a dramatic impact in connecting her body, mind and soul. She studied yoga and attended workshops in the Sacred Valley of Peru and Tulum, Mexico with Tara Nolan, of T Nolan Yoga. She received her 200 Hr RYT, through 21st Century Yoga on the Mat with Alex Pfeiffer at The Studio in Madison, WI. She has completed 45 hours of Yoga Training specific to the adaptation of Hatha Yoga for Breast Cancer. Leanne will guide you to explore breath and movement in a way that can help any body thrive. Leanne teaches Vinyasa style flow that anyone can follow and will challenge her students to embrace life both on and off the mat.
