Meet the Staff of Breast Cancer Recovery!
Megan Purtell, Interim Executive Director
Renee Schloesser, Administrative Assistant
Renee Schloesser, Office Assistant, was diagnosed with breast cancer eight years ago and Renee has worked at Breast Cancer Recovery for five years. Renee loves working with the women who attend an Infinite Boundaries retreat and she enjoys carrying out the numerous logistical aspects involved in planning and implementing a retreat. Renee is from Verona, WI and was trained as a Dental Hygienist and worked in the dental field for several years. Renee was also self-employed in sales and managed up to 100 sales associates. Now that their three sons are grown and out of the house, Tom and Renee love to travel and visit their sons and “new daughters”; go on cruises; ride their bikes and take long walks together. They also look forward to cheering on the University of Wisconsin men’s basketball team each year.
Klara Hartfiel, RN, Program Director
In October 2007, at the age of 28 and with a 3 yr old and 1 yr old at home, Klara was diagnosed with breast cancer. Despite this, she was able to graduate with honors with her RN degree in May 2008. Klara has worked in home health for the past 6 ½ years. Prior to nursing, she has worked in administrative assistant and accounts receivable positions. Since her diagnosis, it has been Klara’s goal to be able to work closely with other survivors. Klara went on her own retreat in 2011 and has volunteered for BCR for the past three years.
Klara lives in Glidden, WI with her husband, Nathan and their children Daniel and Elizabeth. The family also consists of a Chesador Retreiver, three cats and a variety of fish. Klara is kept busy with her childrens’ activities of hockey and figure skating as well as being the leader for her daughter’s Girl Scout troop. Klara and her family also enjoy all that the WI Northwoods has to offer, especially fishing, snowmobiling, Lake Superior agate hunting and Minnesota Vikings football.
